Master of Divinity/Master of Arts in Public Theology (M.Div./M.A.P.T.) Dual Degree At-A-Glace:

  • Integrates pastoral leadership with public theology, equipping you to preach, pastor, and engage public life for the common good.
  • 88-credit dual degree program.
  • Prepares you to lead congregations while addressing issues beyond the church, through policy, ecological stewardship, economic justice, gender concerns, interreligious dialogue, race and reconciliation, and community care. 
  • Studies can be tailored to focus on the areas most central to your calling, in congregational ministry, advocacy, institutional leadership, or nonprofit service. 
  • Typical completion is four years, with flexible pacing available to support your ministry context.

Union Presbyterian Seminary's Master of Divinity/Master of Arts in Public Theology (M.Div./M.A.P.T.) prepares you to make public theology—theology serving the common good—a significant part of your ministry, whether or not you seek ordination. Rooted in the Bible, Reformed tradition, and the church's living mission, this 88-credit dual degree equips you to preach, pastor, and engage public life through policy, ecological stewardship, economic justice, interreligious dialogue, community care, and race and reconciliation. Anchored by formation in worship and community, you'll develop the knowledge and skills to serve as a pastor, advocate, nonprofit leader, or community organizer—bringing theologically informed leadership to both church and public life.
