Coordinator of Youth Ministries–St. Paul’s Episcopal Church–Richmond, VA
Status: Part-time, 10 to 15 hours a week
Compensation: Starting at approximately $15,000 – depending on experience with potential to grow the position

Schedule: This is a part-time position with a nontraditional work schedule; must work Sundays and at other scheduled special events, as required. Weekly staff meeting and other meetings as scheduled.
Summary:
We are currently seeking an engaging and creative individual to serve as our Coordinator of Youth Ministries (6th – 12th grade) to build on our existing program structure and who can help us create a ministry that is filled with welcome, wonder, fun, and fellowship!
The role calls for the ability to be imaginative and creative and organizationally skilled. This position reports to the Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministries.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
● Serve as an advocate for the youth across all ministries of the church.
● Support the spiritual formation and Confirmation process for the youth.
● Establish and maintain healthy, pastoral relationships with the youth in partnership with the clergy.
● Build relationships with parents and encourage their engagement with the ministry where appropriate.
● Develop and cultivate a team of parents and interested parishioners to support the youth ministry.
● Work with the Acolyte leader to recruit and train Acolytes for worship.
● Identify, develop, and lead youth fellowship and mission opportunities.
● Plan and oversee service and fellowship events, working with parents, to provide a quarterly meal for Liberation Veterans Services (an ongoing and successfully established ministry).
● Offer a regular communication with the youth and families which includes but is not limited to a weekly e-newsletter and the youth ministry Instagram account.
● Work with Director of Children and Family Ministries to develop and adhere to an annual budget. Maintain budget throughout the year.
● Attend and prepare Youth Ministry Reports for Children, Youth & Family Committee meetings.
● Support the annual recognition of the graduating seniors from high school.
● Attend the annual parish weekend retreat at Shrine Mont Retreat Center (spring), providing focused programming for youth.
● Recruit and coordinate volunteers for youth events to meet diocesan requirements and St. Paul’s Safe Church guidelines.
● Serve on the Children, Youth and Family Faith Formation Committee.
● Collaborate regularly with the Director of Children and Family Ministries.
● Work with the clergy to regularly include youth in worship services.
● Perform other tasks as assigned.

A successful outcome of a background check is required as is successful completion of Safe Church training for those working with youth.
Education and/or Experience:
• Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of college coursework. Working experience with youth for at least one year is required.
● Membership in the Episcopal Church is not required.
● Equivalent work experience in a non-profit, similar educational environment or church settings with lay persons is a plus.
