Virtual Gathering for Music and Worship Leaders

Date:  Thursday, October 28, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. EDT

Led by:  Douglas Brown, Director of Music and Adjunct Instructor, Union Presbyterian Seminary

Workshop Description: This gathering will center around conversation among peers and will be facilitated by Douglas Brown, Director of Music and Adjunct Instructor in Church Music, at Union Presbyterian Seminary. This learning opportunity is open to all who play a role in worship or music ministry. The facilitated conversation and dialogue is aimed to allow time and space for music and worship leaders to gather virtually to discuss and reflect on obstacles and opportunities presented within the pandemic related to music ministry and worship. What challenges were faced? What solutions were created? What lessons were learned? How have you adapted music and worship in your current context? What will the future hold?

Time among peers will be provided to share and discuss opportunities as well as possible next steps. The objective is to connect and learn from one another in light of the impact of the global pandemic on how churches worship. We hope you will be able to join us.

Leader bio: Douglas Brown serves as the Director of Music and Adjunct Instructor in Church Music at Union Presbyterian Seminary, a position he has held since 2006. He is also Director of Music and Organist at Ginter Park Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Virginia. He holds degrees from Duke University and the Yale School of Music. During the pandemic, he has produced more than forty virtual choir videos for both the seminary and the church, ranging from hymns to multi-choir choral works to children’s musicals.

Online Format: This event will use Zoom technology to meet online in order to allow for interaction among participants and the facilitator. Participants will need an electronic device equipped with a reliable Internet connection, built-in or external microphone, and a built-in or external webcam.

Cost:

$10 per individual, if register by October 15, 2021. (Note: Beginning, October 16, price increases by $5. Register early and save!).

CEUs: .1 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for this event. Note: CEU certificates can be generated upon request at the time of the event.
