This is an online course that is open to all. This six-week course includes weekly online class meetings, on Thursday evenings, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST. In addition to the live class meetings, this course will include both reading and written assignments.
Online Course Title: Teaching the Bible, Pathways Online Course
Led by: Dr. Cindy Kissel-Ito, Associate Professor of Christian Education, Union Presbyterian Seminary
Course Description: This interdisciplinary course examines selected approaches to Bible teaching from the perspectives of biblical scholarship and Christian education. The purpose of this course is to equip participants to develop planning, implementation, and evaluation skills for teaching the Bible.
Online Course Format: Weekly class meetings via Zoom Technology, along with assignments posted on Blackboard, the seminary’s learning management system (login credentials provided)
Dates: Thursdays, October 27 – December 8, 2022, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time
No class meeting on November 24, 2022.
Cost: $150, if register by October 12. (Note: Beginning October 13, price increases by $25).
CEUs: 3.0
The Pathways Online Course Program offers ten courses to provide educational preparation toward leading a congregation as a Commissioned Ruling Elder (CRE) over a two-year period . Courses are open to all, and one does not need to be pursuing to become a CRE in order to participate. Courses aim to enhance knowledge and practical application to various ministry contexts.
