This is an online course that is open to all. This 6-week course includes weekly online class meetings, on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST. In addition to the live class meetings, this course will include both reading and written assignments.
Online Course Title: Church History, Pathways Online Course
Led by: Dr. Christine Luckritz Marquis, Associate Professor of Church History, Union Presbyterian Seminary
Course Description: This course is designed to provide an overview of and an appreciation for the history of Christian traditions, the broader contexts in which they are developed, and their continued significance for the life of the church. Participants will study select crucial historical moments (e.g., early Christian movements, church councils, Reformation, Christianity in America).
Online Course Format: Weekly class meetings via Zoom Technology, along with assignments posted on Blackboard, the seminary’s learning management system (login credentials provided)
Dates: Tuesdays, January 10 – February 14, 2023, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time
Cost: $150, if register by December 26, 2022. (Note: Beginning December 27, price increases by $25).
CEUs: 3.0
The Pathways Online Course Program offers ten courses to provide educational preparation toward leading a congregation as a Commissioned Ruling Elder (CRE) over a two-year period . Courses are open to all, and one does not need to be pursuing to become a CRE in order to participate. Courses aim to enhance knowledge and practical application to various ministry contexts.
