Workshop Description:
For many centuries, dating back to the ancient Jerusalem liturgy, the Church has singled out stories from John’s Gospel for reflection during Lent (the stories of Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, the man born blind, and the raising of Lazarus). The lectionary also features texts from John throughout the season of Easter.
We will prepare for preaching and teaching Johannine texts through collective reflection on them and consideration of new angles of vision provided by recent methodologies and interpreters who read the Bible from different social locations. This workshop is ideal for pastors, educators, and church ministry leaders, whether seeking to prepare for the upcoming Lenten and Easter seasons or seeking additional study within the Johannine texts.
