Bible Department Colloquy with Dr. Brittany E. Wilson and Dr. Michal Beth Dinkler

October 4, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 5:45 pm

The Bible Department announces its first webinar/colloquy of the school year: Monday, October 4, 4:30 – 5:45 p.m. (Eastern time). The webinar will feature Dr. Brittany E. Wilson, Associate Professor of New Testament at Duke Divinity School, discussing her provocative new book The Embodied God: Seeing the Divine in Luke-Acts and the Early Church (New York: Oxford University Press, 2021). Did early Christians think God has a body? Wilson offers a fresh approach to the question and a fascinating exploration of the theme in Luke-Acts. Oxford University Press published her earlier, award-winning book Unmanly Men: Refigurations of Masculinity in Luke-Acts (2015). A response will be given by Dr. Michal Beth Dinkler, Associate Professor of New Testament at Yale Divinity School and the author of Literary Theory and the NewTestament (Yale University Press, 2019) and Silent Statements: Narrative Representations of Speech and Silence in the Gospel of Luke (De Gruyter, 2013). Moderator for the conversation will be UPSem Professor John Carroll.
