Online Workshop: Advanced Social Media Strategy for Churches

Dates:  Tuesdays, November 16 – December 7, 2021, 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. EST (Note: This online workshop is a four-part series).

Led by:  Christen Kinard, Founder, Digital Congregations

Workshop Description: This 4-part course is designed for churches that want to learn how to use social media for ministry, not just marketing. It will teach you how to enhance and improve your current efforts, to stand out in the social space, and to develop and implement an effective social media strategy. In addition to the four 75-minute sessions, workshop participants will receive the recordings and slides from each class in case they are unable to attend. Each week, office hours are offered for one-on-one conversation.

Developing a Strategy
There are two approaches to social media posting: one is strategy-driven and the other is content-driven. A strategy-driven approach is more powerful and saves time and resources in the long run. In this 75-minute session, we will:
identify the major components of a social media strategy;
determine your church’s goals and objectives, channels, and audience;
clarify the differences between messaging buckets, campaigns, and curated sources.

Building a Calendar
Now that you have a strategy, you need to implement it. And you can’t do that without a content calendar! In this 75-minute session, we will:
review the content calendar I develop for my clients,
discuss the required roles for implementation,
troubleshoot the most common challenges that churches face in this process.

Branding & Writing for Social Media
It is time to post! The competition for your followers’ time and attention can be fierce. The secret is to not compete, but rather to set yourself apart. In this 75-minute session, we will:
discover the rules of writing for social media,
work through the fundamentals of branding,
help you begin to develop your church’s voice and tone.

Social Media Advertising
If your church is interested in advertising on social media platforms, you can do a lot with even a small investment. In this 75-minute session, we will:
introduce you to the ins and outs of social media advertising,
answer churches’ most frequently asked questions,
compare and contrast the available advertising options.
