Located in the scenic Sauk Valley in Northwest Illinois, the First Presbyterian Church of Dixon, established in 1853, desires a called pastor to help shepherd our church into its third century.  Our focus is caring well for our congregants, and lovingly supporting our community with hands on action as well as financial gifts.  As spiritual leader, the pastor will inspire from the pulpit and encourage us to embrace the opportunity that a change in pastoral leadership offers, help us develop new ideas in mission and service, and inspire hope and excitement for the future.

Small town living means remote?  Not in Dixon.  Our location offers easy access to Chicago, Rockford and the Quad Cities.

Tasks, expectations, duties, supervision, assignments, and responsibilities for the position
  • Undertake those passions that initially inspired you to the ministry and that bring you joy
  • Provide spiritual guidance and leadership to the congregation
  • Offer a ministry that is dynamic and motivational through the whole worship service
  • Work with the congregation to seek opportunities for the church to serve and make a positive impact on the local community
  • Build relationships with neighbor churches and local organizations
  • Reach out to members of the congregation to extend your caring, teaching, healing, and leadership qualities beyond the pulpit
  • Lead in developing evangelism and discipleship ministries
  • Facilitate Bible studies, and other educational programs
  • Oversee the daily operations of the church, as head of staff
  • Reach out for assistance when you need it
