Church Administrator–Georgetown Presbyterian Church–Washington D.C.

Georgetown Presbyterian Church (GPC) is a vibrant 500 member congregation nestled in the middle of Georgetown, Washington, DC. Our congregation is seeking an office administrator to join our experienced and collaborative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing office operations, managing administrative tasks, and connecting with the staff, members, visitors and vendors. This position will report to the senior pastor and work closely with the entire team.

Duties:
– Coordinate and oversee office activities and church operations.
– Manage phone systems, including answering calls, taking messages, and directing calls to appropriate parties.
– Session/Deacons/Member Resourcing: Be a central connector for administrative aspects of Session, the deacons and member initiatives.
– Facilities: Manage a facilities calendar for the church building and manse; this entails ensuring facilities are kept in good working order; oversight of repairs; ensuring church IT is in good working order; supervising a custodian; managing day-to-day of (a) weekday renter relationship.
– Stewardship: Help to facilitate the annual stewardship campaign (e.g., assist with congregational communications and materials); track campaign progress; record pledges.
– Finance: Manage church finances including supervision of third party bookkeeper; ensure proper payment of vendors; facilitate receipt of stewardship donations; assist in budgeting process.
– Security: Be an active contact and participant on the church security team.
– Sunday morning: Assist with logistics around Sunday morning activities.

REQUIREMENTS
– Proven experience as an Administrator or similar role.
– College degree or equivalent required.
– Proficiency in using office software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
– Excellent communication skills to interact with staff at all levels.
– Familiarity with phone etiquette and professional communication standards.
