Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty Named Professor of Theology and Ethics
Richmond, VA (May 23, 2023)—An accomplished author, scholar, and gifted teacher, Union Presbyterian Seminary is excited to welcome Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Hinson-Hasty as the newest faculty member in Theology and Ethics.
Dr. Hinson-Hasty is a B.A. graduate of William Jewell College and an M.Div. graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She received her Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education (now UPSem) in 2002. Ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church, USA, she is a member of the Mid-Kentucky Presbytery.
Dr. Hinson-Hasty’s service to the church is ecumenical and international. She has represented the World Council of Churches in numerous capacities. On the national church level, she has served as a resource person at General Assembly, Synod, and Presbytery levels.
Prior to accepting the call to serve on the faculty of UPSem, Dr. Hinson-Hasty served on the Faculty of Bellarmine University. Previously, she was on the faculty of St. Andrews Presbyterian College and Union Presbyterian Seminary. In 2010, she taught as a Fulbright Scholar at Debrecen Reformed Theological University in Debrecen, Hungary.
She is married and the mother of one college student and one high school student. A committed church leader, Dr. Hinson-Hasty will be based on the Charlotte campus.
