Dinner on the Nile
On Wednesday, we were in the lobby at 3:30 a.m., lucky to maybe have 4 to 5 hours of sleep. We packed our carry-ons and got a bagged breakfast before hopping on the bus to head to the airport for our flight to Luxor. After a coffee pit stop, we visited the temple of Karnak. We beat the crowd and the heat during our time in the temple. We saw workers restoring remains and how well some of the colors have stood the test of time.
After Karnak we were able to rest; I chose to relax by the pool while others opted for a nap. At 5:00 p.m. the group went to the Luxor temple filled with King Ramses II. In the back was a Coptic church that Christine got to geek over. We ate dinner on the Nile and celebrated a birthday in the group—Amanda! We sang songs and had a huge cake! After dinner, we went on a short shopping trip in the street markets. Once back at the hotel for the night, a group of students went to watch soccer.
