This is an online course that is open to all. This 6-week course includes weekly online class meetings, on Thursday evenings, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EST. In addition to the live class meetings, this course will include both reading and written assignments.

Online Course Title: Preaching, Pathways Online Course

Led by: Dr. Richard Voelz, Associate Professor of Preaching and Worship, Union Presbyterian Seminary

Course Description: Participants will consider the “why” of preaching and learn the “how” of basic elements of sermon preparation and delivery. The learning will then be put into practice by developing, delivering, and receiving feedback on a sermon preached in the context.

Online Course Format:  Weekly class meetings via Zoom Technology, along with assignments posted on Blackboard, the seminary’s learning management system (login credentials provided)

Dates: Thursdays, April 27 – June 1, 2023, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

Cost:  $150, if register by April 12, 2023. (Note: Beginning April 13, price increases by $25).

CEUs:  3.0

The Pathways Online Course Program offers ten courses to provide educational preparation toward leading a congregation as a Commissioned Ruling Elder (CRE) over a two-year period .  Courses are open to all, and one does not need to be pursuing to become a CRE in order to participate. Courses aim to enhance knowledge and practical application to various ministry contexts.
