Coronavirus FAQ
Is the seminary taking precautions to prevent the spread of viruses?
Yes. There are additional hand sanitizer dispensers positioned in high traffic areas on campus.
In addition, the custodial staff has been informed about how COVID-19 spreads and is disinfecting “high-touch” surfaces, such as doorknobs, handles, tabletops, and more.
We all play an important role in preventing the spread of viruses. Following the habits below that are recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) can help prevent the spread of several viruses:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Stay home when you are sick
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
- Follow the CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask
What should I do if I feel sick?
According to the CDC, you should:
- Seek medical care
- Stay home except to get medical care
- Separate yourself from people and animals in your home
- Wear a face mask
- Not travel while sick
- Cover your coughs and sneezes
- Avoid sharing personal household items
- Clean your hands often
- Clean all “high-touch” areas every day
- Monitor symptoms
- Consult with healthcare providers and state and local health departments before discontinuing home isolation
Please read this resource for more detail on each bullet above.
Who should I contact at the seminary if I feel sick?
Students who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should notify the Dean of Students. Likewise, employees should notify their direct supervisor. Knowledge about your condition will enable the Seminary to assist in coordinating medical services, spiritual support, and other needs as best as possible.
Informing the Seminary combined with following the CDC guidelines will help to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 to the rest of the community.
