UPSem announces new Master of Arts in Theological Studies program
RICHMOND, VA (March 6, 2018) — Union Presbyterian Seminary’s new Master of Arts in Theological Studies (M.A.T.S.) program has begun admitting students for the 2018-19 academic year.
The program will prepare graduates to respond to complex realities in a global context through academic exploration; to theologically and ethically engage the changing world, especially as it shapes and is shaped by religious identity in new ways; and to think critically about faith, culture, and ethics in relation to vocation, texts, and contemporary issues.
M.A.T.S. degree students will be equipped for lay leadership in the church, or non-profit leadership and other non-traditional ministries. It often enhances work that graduates are already doing, and prepares them for new vocations as public theologians.
The program is approved by the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and Union Presbyterian Seminary is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (www.sacscoc.org/).
