Friday, April 13, 6:00 pm-8:30 pm—BBQ Church led by John Vest, professor of evangelism at Union Presbyterian Seminary (Think evangelism professor meets pitmaster), with music by Jordan Lake Swimmers (Think Mumford and Sons meets Righteous Brothers)

Experience church around a table in a way that is contextual, casual, and surprisingly flavorful. Reservations are required. The service is free, but your donation helps to cover the cost of dinner and music.

Saturday, April 14, 9:00 am-12:30 pm—Conversations on Evangelism with John Vest

This workshop will challenge stereotypical assumptions (and fears) about evangelism and encourage participants and their congregations to be bearers of good news in their lives and in the world. Reservations required. The fee is $30 and includes a continental breakfast. Proceeds support the Evangelism Program at Union Presbyterian Seminary.

Dr. John Vest serves as visiting assistant professor of evangelism at Union Presbyterian Seminary and works with the Presbytery of the James in the areas of evangelism, new church development, and church revitalization. He is passionate about faith formation for emerging generations and is the co-founder of the Progressive Youth Ministry conference. An enthusiastic pitmaster, Vest dreams of one day achieving the mystical union of church and BBQ, a dream he is making a reality with a food truck called Redemption BBQ and a new worshipping community call the Joyful Feast. He lives in Glen Allen, Virginia, with his wife and two young sons.
